By 2023, Aging am I in weeks ‘n bow,
blessings are in for I am alive for now,
Eons ago on a Bleecker St. walkin’ was I ,
Nudges my body it’s real & here is why,
My friends are now gone at large
memories melts real into a mirage
My brains,”let’s move on” says a Sage,
Eateries are closed now ; it’s a heartache,
Life moves on to old age ago,
Recall for a linguini with pesto,
Shrimp Francese for a sauce divine,
Italian Cuisine is now – a rare find.
Hindsight: what’s love to do on a lifeline?
It’s my two daughters – love of mine,
Symbiotic is a thing,
Wafts over a wing ,
A message clear,
Reminds I can hear,
Spiritual bond remains keepsake,
It is my belongings stays in wake,
Life refreshes and forever give,
It’s echos says, “I want to live”

What an elegant poem, Ishrat.
Beautiful sentiment and expressiveness. It’s dramatic and passionate and descriptive, and takes us on a journey through time and place and emotion.
Ishrat…I love this poem. I think my favorite one actually! So poignant
and reminiscent…and yet so present. It allows us all to remember to be grateful for the real moments and savor the flavors of the journey of life as we go.
